PLANNING YOUR TRIP
GETTING AROUND
LGA… 20-40 minutes to downtown Brooklyn in a taxi, $35 - $60. No options for public transportation.
JFK… ~35-50 minutes to downtown Brooklyn in a taxi, $50 - $70. Public transportation explained here.
To ride the AirTrain at JFK, you’ll need to buy a MetroCard at the airport. The kiosks are by the entrance to the AirTrain. You can add money to this card to use the subway.
If your route requires the LIRR, you must buy separate tickets on the TrainTime app. Starting station is Jamaica. Peak times are weekdays 6a-10a, 4p-8p. Any other time is Off-Peak.
Google Maps is a reliable guide for NYC’s subway!
Uber / Lyft / Yellow cabs are affordable and easy to use. To catch a yellow cab at the airport, follow signs for the taxi wait line.
EWR airport is quite far from Brooklyn and difficult to travel to/from.
