PLANNING YOUR TRIP

GETTING AROUND

  • LGA… 20-40 minutes to downtown Brooklyn in a taxi, $35 - $60. No options for public transportation.

  • JFK… ~35-50 minutes to downtown Brooklyn in a taxi, $50 - $70. Public transportation explained here.

  • To ride the AirTrain at JFK, you’ll need to buy a MetroCard at the airport. The kiosks are by the entrance to the AirTrain. You can add money to this card to use the subway.

  • If your route requires the LIRR, you must buy separate tickets on the TrainTime app. Starting station is Jamaica. Peak times are weekdays 6a-10a, 4p-8p. Any other time is Off-Peak.

  • Google Maps is a reliable guide for NYC’s subway!

  • Uber / Lyft / Yellow cabs are affordable and easy to use. To catch a yellow cab at the airport, follow signs for the taxi wait line.

  • EWR airport is quite far from Brooklyn and difficult to travel to/from.
